2016 Saluda, SC images and recap video below.
Shel-Shocked kicked off the 2016 season with a 3rd on Friday in a pedal fest on a tricky track and a early season win on Saturday night. The trucks ran well but struggled both nights with only the Culp Lumber "Sawmill Express" cracking the top 10 on Friday night. Misty rain coming down on Saturday night when truck class ran.

General Tire "Cutting Edge" Ford updated for 2016 season |
Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland MO. "REESE WINS, REESE WINS" !!! Well we've almost come to the end of a long summer journey as we headed to Lucas Oil Speedway for what would be the finals with "Shel-Shocked" but the trucks have one more trip to Waynesburg PA the following week to finish out their season. Well we headed into this event with hope of bringing home another Mod Championship but that just wasn't meant to be. The Stewart's claimed the 2014 Title and we ended up a strong 2nd. With so much focus on the Mod championship fight, Reese decided it was his time to shine and would give us something to cheer about as he did an awesome job of piloting the General Tire "Cutting Edge" Ford down the left hand side of a challenging track to garner his first ever National Event Win. And to top it off the event was being filmed for a CBS broadcast. He has really progressed well in his Rookie Season behind the wheel and the win just caps off an award for his hard work. He also represented our team well in the Autograph session prior to the show. Grayson made a really nice pass as well in the Culp Lumber "Sawmill Express" but had to get on a brake and cost him some footage but still gained an 8th place finish in front of a packed house at Lucas Oil Speedway. |
Hamburg NY Fair Pull just outside of Buffalo NY. Team Shelton loaded up the wagon with everything we had and headed north to Hamburg NY for a two day event at the Erie County Fair. Always a nice trip to northern New York. We had the hauler maxed out with passengers so we could also go visit Niagara Falls on the US side. We had a great time as you can see in some photos below. Wasn't our best or worst weekend of pulling. Grayson was early in the class and we just had the frontend too heavy. Reese was last in the class and made nice pass for a top 10 but was also nose heavy. "Shel-Shocked" was early in the class both nights. We overpowered the track on Friday as you can see the right back tire grow oversized in the video so we were lucky to finish 5th as other tractors struggled to hook up as well. On Saturday night we were test hook and the sled was too heavy so they reset the sled and we dropped to last. We made a nice pass to finish 3rd. Only bad part was that the Stewart's were still red hot and won both nights in Hamburg and took over the points lead by 4 points going into the last event at Lucas Oil Speedway in a few weeks. Rain moved in and rained out the event after the Mod class so the trucks didn't get to run on Saturday night. |

Hillsboro, WI "Hillsboro Charity Pull". If you want to attend a great pull with a very fan friendly facility then you need to head up to Hillsboro Wisconsin in August. Don Slama and crew put on a wonderful Lucas Oil event and all the proceeds go to local charities or people in need. "Shel-Shocked" had the trailer to itself for the ride up to Cheeseland. Coming into the event we were still the points leader but the Stewart family with the "Down and Dirty" Mod are charging hard. They won both hooks at Hillsboro and closed the points gap up tremendously. We had two solid top 5 finishes even with alittle ignition issues on the right back engine that you will see in the recap video. Still hanging on to the points lead. |
Indianapolis, IN Indy Super Pull at Fairgounds. Team Shelton headed over from Altamont, IL to the Indy Super Pull for an afternoon show on Sunday. Afternoon shows are always tough for the track crews to keep moisture in the tracks. We came out of Indy with a solid top 5 with "Shel-Shocked" but once again struggled with the trucks to get down a loose dry track. |
Altamont, IL Pull. After a weekend off and a little family vacation in some white sand with our team leader Amy we got back in the swing and headed north to Altamont for a friday nght show with just the trucks. Well the white sand must have killed our mojo because we stunk it up. Boys drove the trucks like I asked them too but it just wasn't our night. About the only thing we got was some good photos below. Now we loaded and head east to Indianapolis for the Indy Super Pull on Sunday afternoon with the Trucks and the Mod. |
Evansville, IN Southern Indiana Shootout Pull. Wow !!! what a difference a day can make. After Grayson and Reese struggled in northern Indiana the day before they got up on the throttle and gave us our best finishes in a long time on a track that we have struggled on with the trucks. "Shel-Shocked" said look out young guns your not going to out do me in front of this huge crowd and took the Win in the Mod class to take the lead in the points series. |
Goshen, IN pull at Elkhart Fair. One of the largest county fairs in the country also hosts one of the largest one day events the last week in July every year. Our entire team headed north to amish country to compete in front of a packed house of fans. Even though the dirt is sandly it is always very consistent and fair for all competitors each year. Grayson and Reese didn't have their best day at Goshen but "Shel-Shocked" made its way to the podium with a 3rd place finish. Now the crew had to head south for a 7 hour over night drive to compete in Evansville, IN |
Oak Harbor, Ohio Power Pull. "Shel-Shocked" finally got a much needed weekend off as the series headed almost to the Great Lakes in northern Ohio for a Saturday night only show. This was our first time competing at this facility and Grayson and Reese did a great job piloting their vehicles down what turned out to be a very tricky track for the entire class. |
Southwest Illinois Nationals in Fairfield, IL. After a long night of driving from Freeport, IL the team pulled their boot straps up and got ready for a tough night of competition with both the Trucks and the Mod. "Shel-Shocked" fell out of the top 5 on this night but Grayson drives the Culp Lumber "Sawmill Express" to another win and its 3rd win of the season actually tieing the "Wild One" truck from the Nelsons for the victory. Reese did an outstanding job of driving the General Tire "Cutting Edge" as he gains experience in the seat. |
Midwest Summer Nationals in Freeport IL. Once again only "Shel-Shocked" was scheduled for this 2 day event on Thursday and Friday. A very consistent 2 days for the team as "Shel-Shocked" managed a 2nd and 3rd place. After this event the team had a 6 hour drive south for a Saturday night show in Fairfield, IL with both the Mod and the trucks. |
Ohio State Nationals in Greenville, OH. Only "Shel-Shocked" had to make the ride to Greenville OH for this 2 day event. Great weekend for team as "Shel-Shocked" managed a solid 4th place finish on the first night and pulled out its first Win of the year on the second night. |
Wilmington, OH Pull. Grayson graduates High School on weekend of pull so crew takes all our equipment to pull to get our points and Ricky and Keith Long drive the vehicles. Ricky drives "Shel-Shocked" and Keith drives both the trucks and parks the Culp Lumber "Sawmill Express" in the winner circle for its 2nd Win of the season. Great job by crew and hired guns. |
2014 National points tour started off in Franklin KY at the TS Performance Pull. ( Stan has good start to season with "Shel-Shocked" Mod, Grayson starts the season off with a Win with the Culp Lumber "Sawmill Express", and Reese begins his Rookie season piloting the General Tire "Cutting Edge" ) Great atmosphere and wondering facility to kick off the 2014 Champions Tour. |
